In 2018, I had the privilege of serving on the organizing team for Google I/O Extended Islamabad, where I took complete ownership of the event's visual identity and experiential design. Bridging the gap between global brand standards and local community execution, I translated Google's developer ecosystem into a cohesive, high-impact tangible experience. My responsibilities spanned the entire creative lifecycle, from concept development to pre-production and final execution of all event collateral.
I designed the main stage backdrop, high-visibility event standees, promotional posters, and wall hangings that defined the physical space and set an energetic, professional tone for attendees. Beyond the environmental graphics, I meticulously crafted the entire merchandise and utility kit, including the custom event T-shirts, official notebooks, pens, and participant identity cards.
Event Co-Organization & Visual Strategy
As a core member of the organizing team for GDG Islamabad, I helped manage event operations and define the overall spatial experience. I spearheaded the creative vision to translate Google’s Google I/O Extended aesthetic into an engaging physical environment for the local tech community. My role balanced high-level logistics with hands-on creative direction to ensure a seamless, professional experience for every attendee.
End-to-End Visual Branding
I conceptualized and designed the complete visual identity package, translating brand guidelines across all physical and digital touchpoints. This included the main stage backdrop, high-visibility standees, directional signage, event vouchers, and custom sticker sets. I also crafted the full participant swag kit—featuring branded T-shirts, notebooks, pens, and identity badges—ensuring a unified design language throughout the venue.
Event Leadership & Coordination
As part of the GDG Islamabad organizing team, I helped run the event and set up the overall venue experience. I worked closely with the team to bring Google's visual identity to life for our local community. My role mixed event planning with design leadership to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Full Event Deliverables
I designed all the visual materials from scratch, keeping a consistent look across the entire venue. This included the main stage backdrop, event standees, posters, vouchers, and custom stickers. I also designed all the attendee swag, such as the T-shirts, notebooks, pens, and entry cards.
